Our poll reveals a strong reaction among Mexicans to the ‘Tequila de la Muerte’ health alert. The leading response, from 34.8% of respondents, was “Me preocupa y evitaré ciertos tequilas.” (It worries me and I will avoid certain tequilas.). This indicates a significant level of personal concern and a proactive stance towards prevention.
Closely following, 31.5% of respondents stated “Es importante que las autoridades investiguen a fondo.” (It is important that the authorities investigate thoroughly.), highlighting a desire for official action and accountability. Age also played a role in public opinion. Younger adults, specifically those aged 18-24 (38.5%) and 25-34 (43.4%), predominantly expressed concern and a willingness to avoid certain tequilas. The 45-54 age group also leaned this way at 29.8%.
